The Puls Vario office was born out of the need for a space that could support and stimulate the creative and innovative processes. The German engineering firm Puls, expanding its team and opening a new research and development office in Vienna, sought a workspace that could serve as an innovation powerhouse. The design of the office is rooted in the latest cognitive research on how innovation occurs, aiming to expedite the development of new ideas into innovative products.
The Retreat zone is designed for individual research and deep thinking, while Dialog fosters the development of ideas through informal discussion and collaboration. Create, the high-tech lab, is where engineers prototype, test, and develop new products. The final area, Share, is for sharing the results of prototyping and inspiring colleagues with ideas.
The design process also enabled an internal restructuring within Puls. The company introduced a new structure, eliminating traditional hierarchical roles and instead focusing on product owners, coaches, and subject matter experts. This structure allows individuals to seek assistance and mentorship from more experienced specialists and gives them the freedom to rapidly develop ideas without the bottleneck of a hierarchy-based sign off.
Evolution Design's Puls Vario office has been recognized for its innovative approach to workspace design, winning Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. The award highlights the office's remarkable level of excellence and its ability to inspire positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
In conclusion, Puls Vario is a shining example of how thoughtful design can foster creativity and innovation. By creating a unique work environment that supports the research and development team in their search for innovative new products, Evolution Design has set a new standard for office design. The success of Puls Vario serves as a reminder of the power of design in shaping the way we work and think.
